Barkley 2’s trailer pays painstaking tribute to a Final Fantasy trailer

Barkley, Shut Up And Jam: Gaiden is a strange and funny game, so it’s not surprising that the recently released trailer for its follow-up, The Magical Realms Of Tír Na NÓg: Escape From Necron 7—Revenge of Cuchulainn: The Official Game Of The Movie—Chapter 2 Of The Hoopz Barkley SaGa (or Barkley 2, for the lazy) is thoroughly odd. The made-up Japanese names, random dystopian scenes, and Al Bhed subtitles are vaguely amusing on their own, but it’s only when you sync it up with the Final Fantasy VII Remake trailer that a beautiful underlying synchronicity unfolds before your eyes.

The promise has been made, and TMROTNNEFN7ROCTOGOTMC2OTHBS launches November 11, 2023, a mere decade after the original “late 2013” estimate by developer Tales Of Game’s. If, in the interim, we’re treated to more tsundere body pillows or trailers of this caliber, then maybe the wait won’t feel so long. If you’d actually like to play it, Barkley 2 will be at the Indie Megabooth at PAX Prime this weekend, along with a real life Cyberdwarf.
