Last month, we reported that DC was working on an animated film about the Justice League Dark team, a group of magic-based heroes who handle the threats that are too spooky for the regular Justice League. Now, with that controversial Killing Joke adaptation wrapped up—you know, the one that even the people who made it seem to hate—DC has officially announced Justice League Dark as its next animated feature. As that original report said it would, the confirmation comes from a behind-the-scenes featurette included on the Killing Joke disc, and it gives a quick introduction to the basic setup of the Dark team and a preview of which DC characters will show up.

Batman will be there, of course, appearing alongside John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, Deadman, Etrigan, and Black Orchid. Also, as a fun surprise, the animated Constantine will be played by none other than Matt Ryan, the bloke who played him on NBC’s Constantine show. The rest of the Justice League will also have some kind of role, but it looks like they’ll mostly be there to talk about how they can’t handle whatever this magical threat is. The featurette doesn’t say if any of the characters will have sex just to arbitrarily raise the emotional stakes, but we think Etrigan and Deadman would be a fun ‘ship.
