Long-suffering fans of the seminal Madchester band, The Stone Roses, got a very special treat today, when the quartet released its first new song since breaking up two decades ago. “All For One”—recorded in London’s Church Studios under the watchful eye of Grammy-winning producer by Paul Epworth—is available now for download and streaming. And a full album of fresh material is supposedly in the works.

The Stone Roses were one of the most successful and influential bands to emerge from Manchester’s psychedelic dance music scene in the late ’80s and early ’90s. Their biggest hit, “Love Spreads,” off the 1994 album Second Coming, reached #2 on both the UK Singles Chart and Billboard’s U.S. Alternative Chart. Vocalist Ian Brown and bassist Gary “Mani” Mounfield dissolved the band in 1996, after guitarist John Squire and drummer Alan John “Reni” Wren had already departed due to creative and personal differences. The four key band members reformed in 2011 for a reunion tour but had not, until recently, gone back into the studio to produce anything new.
